Dr. Zashin is a top-tier rheumatologist – likely one of the best in the nation and certainly in Texas. His depth of expertise, cutting-edge treatments, and interdisciplinary approach to medicine are truly exceptional. He collaborates with leading labs to diagnose early-stage, rare, or atypical presentations of rheumatologic diseases and pursues every possible lead to uncover the root cause of pain and symptoms – like the doctors in TV shows, but real.

In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr. Zashin publishes research on fibromyalgia, Sjögren’s syndrome, and innovative treatments like low-dose naltrexone. Unlike many physicians, he treats fibromyalgia as a legitimate condition rather than a throwaway diagnosis, always approaching his patients with seriousness and empathy. His staff is equally outstanding, following up promptly on every promised item.

Dr. Zashin and his staff are extraordinarily compatible. They give patients hope with dignity, compassion, and knowledge. My experience with them has been life changing to say the least. I just want to say I respect Dr. Zashin more than any physician I have had in my 65 years. He is caring for his patients, and shows great respect and goes beyond to help patients with the problems they have. He is well scheduled of patients, without waiting and most doctors are not this thorough. He personally returns phone calls if needed and that is very impressive to me. If he cannot handle a certain situation, I totally trust his recommendations on any other physician. He is a gift in his field and his staff is wonderful. I cannot say enough good things about all of them.

It has been my experience that many specialists do not listen to the patient, and Rheumatologists are at the top of the snobbish heap… and then there is Dr. Zashin… he is definitely a cut above all other doctors that I or any of my friends have been to… Dr. Zashin never tells a patient it is all in their head, he doesn’t even imply it… Dr. Zashin takes all the time he and the patient needs…  it is very refreshing.

I am a patient of Dr. Zashin. I was in excruciating pain for the last 4-5 years – it became unbearable. After job losses, many dollars in MD bills, being humiliated by providers, I felt like I had been brought out of a torrential storm with no end in sight. Dr Zashin was patient, kind, understanding and human. I cried the first year in his office because I could not believe how he began this aggressive workup to find out the problem. The problem was I had RA, fibromyalgia and finally someone who did not regard how much pain and disabling things were. At every visit he listened, he was encouraging, he was a compassionate human being as well as a scientist. Many times I felt guilty for not being a great patient, but he was so reassuring and understanding that pain turns us into people that we don’t recognize. All of his staff shared the same incredible values (kindness, expertise, flexibility, understanding of pain in the human condition). Dr. Zashin is the best teacher that one could hope for and all of his staff are strong supporting cast. One feels renewed and hopeful when in their care. Just when I thought that my life would be riddled with pain and dysfunction and continuous humiliation, I found great medical, nursing and office care and I believed that my health would get better with good management. As I write this review I am reminded of the poor medical care I had once upon a time and the excellent care I have, and this becomes a testimony about not giving in to despair when you are ill, but keep trying to find someone to address your medical care even if it is 5 years and 34+ doctors that you leave behind. Thank you to this practice that my life is being restored everyday. I do believe that good medicine like Dr. Welby is still being practiced.

He listens to you and takes the time necessary to understand your concerns. Not cheap, but a doctor that takes time with you cannot afford to be. Staff is top notch.

Dr. Zashin is a brilliant clinician who was able to tease out a diagnosis that is rare in the South. Numerous competent specialists had been unable to diagnose my disease over several years. So, I was headed to The Mayo Clinic in Rochester. I suspected that my problem was cold mediated and Minnesota doctors should be cold experts. Knowing Dr. Zashin, my wife suggested I see him first. After conducting a thorough initial exam, Zashin trotted in with medical books and color printouts that supported his working diagnosis. He recommended follow-up with another specialist to confirm the diagnosis. Not only was Zashin spot on, so was my wife’s suggestion.

Dr. Scott Zashin is a bright spot in the complicated, overburdened world of practicing medicine. I have been a patient for 5+ years and am completely satisfied with the care and expertise of Dr. Zashin and his very capable staff. Dr. Zashin is personable and professional, intelligent and able to relate to patients and their level. His staff is competent, friendly and dependable. I have never waited more that 3 minutes to be seen, from the waiting room, to exam, to blood work. I am confident that I am in the right place receiving the best medical care and information available. I would highly recommend Dr. Zashin to any suffering with rheumatoid arthritis and associated diseases.

While there are many other doctors that are near my home, I travel 400 miles roundtrip fro Austin for each of my semiannual visits to Dr. Zashin. I’ve never experienced the type of care – both medical care and concern for the patient that I receive from him and his staff. When I first visited Dr. Zashin I was at a physical and emotional low – not knowing what the rest of my life would be like. However, his positive nature and exceptional diagnostic and prescriptive skills have me functioning at a peak and my life is far better than I ever thought it would be. He’s simply a tremendous doctor that genuinely cares for his patients.

I feel so grateful to have a doctor like you. You are always so pleasant but also very helpful with all my health problems. I wish every doctor would be as thorough and kind as you and everyone else in your practice. Thank you.

I have never had such wonderful care as I do in Dr. Zashin’s office. He is a kind, thoughtful man and physician. I tell everyone that might need a doctor that he is the best and the one to see for rheumatoid arthritis or related conditions. He is a wonderful example of the best doctor I have ever known.

It would be enough to have a doctor who is as knowledgeable in his field as Dr. Zashin, but to get that plus a doctor who treats each patient as an individual is icing on the cake. He gives you his complete attention and listens to all your medical issues, not just the ones that relate to arthritis, fibromyalgia, or whatever your primary problem is. Also, if “normal” treatments don’t work, he doesn’t hesitate to try alternative treatments. I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Z! I wish I could bottle him and share him with everyone. That goes for his staff as well. They do their jobs efficiently and effectively and are as kind and compassionate as Dr. Z is.

I established care with Dr. Zashin more than 10 years ago. I count my blessings daily to be under the care of one of the best physicians I’ve ever met. Dr. Zashin and his staff respect the needs and privacy of their patients. The longevity and tenure of each of his employees bears testament to the fact that Dr. Z and his team deliver compassion and excellence in health care. The office is pristine and staff attitudes are great. Dr. Zashin takes the time to get to know his patients. I believe that his patients know who he is as well. Although he is not on my health plan, I feel that I am cared for physically and emotionally. I do not believe that I could find this in any other practice. Prior to seeing Dr. Zashin initially, I had been on a quest for over two decades to try to make some sense of the symptoms I’d been experiencing which at times felt debilitating to me. I owned a business, had been employed in healthcare, and was a busy wife and mother of four children. Other Rheumatologists consulted were part of huge practices, busy clinicians or indifferent solo practitioners. I often felt like a “number” in the huge macrocogism of a healthcare system and would leave each visit feeling confused, concerned and still exhausted. Dr. Zashin has unbelievable patience, and is very gentle. He is always concerned and I’ve never felt rushed or dissatisfied. He understands a flare or a “bad day”, and has often called after hours or on a weekend to see how I am feeling. Dr. Z is more than “just a physician”. He is a caring friend.

Dr Zashin took the time to listen to all of my issues, questions, etc. He is very knowledgeable regarding autoimmune diseases. He made sure that I understood all the treatment options – including tests, possible medications, etc. His staff was very friendly. I would highly recommend this doctor. I can’t say enough about Dr. Zashin and his Staff. I was very ill for several months. I went to 7 doctors and 3 emergency rooms. Of course no one knew my personality, and every doctor that I saw had the wonderful advice that I needed anti-depressants. I kept trying to tell everyone that I was not a depressed person, that I was very ill. I was finally sent to Dr. Zashin. Dr. Zashin not only listened, but he is the kindest doctor that I have found. He jumped right into trying to help me and he did, you can say that he had to piece the puzzle together. He never stopped. What I appreciate is the fact that even though he put me on medication, he tried to get me off of it as soon as he could. I love his staff; every person in that office is very nice and friendly. It’s pretty strange when you look forward to your doctor’s visit. It’s like going to visit friends. I recommend Dr. Zashin to anyone that I know is in need of help. I honestly feel like this man saved my life.

Gives prompt, easy-to-understand feedback on lab results. Office hours flexible enough to accommodate patient needs. Asks pertinent questions which indicate knowledge of patient’s medical history. While doesn’t take Medicare, costs are reasonable w/o it. During office visits he really seems to be mentally engaged with patient care; he’s really “thinking” about what the patient needs and what might improve the patient’s health and well being.
